Profiled thermoplastics are sprayed or extruded thermoplastic markings that are constructed with an alternating elevated and recessed profile.
The purpose of the profiled pattern is to provide nighttime retro reflectivity under wet conditions, and in cases where the profiles are large enough, a rumble effect can be felt when driving over the markings.
The elevation-recession pattern may be placed using one of many methods. The two most popular methods are inverted-profile markings and raised-profile markings.

Alamo Materials Brand Alkyd Preformed Thermoplastic is a pre-extruded blend of binder, pigments and glass beads that can be applied on substrates at 32°F and rising, using an open flame application.
Product Advantages:
- Non-flammable and below 150 VOC
- Has the best bead retention and abrasion resistance
- Can release to traffic quickly
- Can be used for symbols, legends, and lane marking
- More durable than thermoplastic or water-based paint and does not require special equipment

The shelf life of our product is one year from the date of manufacture with proper storage. Proper storage includes inside or covered to prevent moisture, and below 120°F. Outside storage for short intervals is acceptable as long as the material is kept dry. The older the material, the more agitations and heating time is required to fully melt and mix granular ingredients.
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, antifreeze, loose sand, aggregate and chipping/peeling existing striping. Any curing compounds used on new concrete must be mechanically abraded off prior to striping and use of a primer is strongly suggested.
When drop on glass beads are applied, the thermoplastic will be tack free to traffic in not more than 2 minutes when pavement surface temperature is at 50°F, and not more than 10 minutes when pavement surface temperature is 130°F.
One ton will yield approximately 6,500 feet of 4″ stripe @ 90 mil – surface texture will decrease the yield.
The shelf life of our product is three years from the date of manufacture with proper storage. Proper storage includes inside or covered to prevent moisture, and below 120°F. Outside storage for short intervals is acceptable as long as the material is kept dry.

Alamo Materials Brand Alkyd Ribbon/Spray Thermoplastic is a solids blend of binder, pigments and glass beads that must be melted to a temperature of 400-450° F, mixed and applied in a liquid state to pavement. The material temperature when it meets the road, surface must be no less than 380°F.
Surface temperature at the time of application should be 50°F and rising. Upon cooling to normal pavement temperature, thermoplastic provides an exceptionally durable marking material for low and high-volume traffic areas.
– Non-flammable and below 150 VOC
– Has the best bead retention and abrasion resistance
– Fast set up times
– Can be used for symbols, legends, and lane marking
– Low cost per useful life
Our Thermoplastic is sold in one-ton increments. The ton is divided into 40 bags weighing approximately 50 pounds each.

Alamo Materials Brand Alkyd Preformed Thermoplastic is a pre-extruded blend of binder, pigments and glass beads that can be applied on substrates at 32°F and rising, using an open flame application. The material temperature must be heated sufficiently to allow bonding with the road surface (approximately 325°F).
Evidence of thermochromaticity is an indication of bonding, although bonding should always be checked before leaving the jobsite. Upon cooling to normal pavement temperature, thermoplastic provides an exceptionally durable marking material for low and high-volume traffic areas.

Our Thermoplastic is sold in boxes in pre-extruded forms and flats.
